The iPhone 11 and 12 Pro Max were the best sellers in the last quarter

A recent research report analyzed how iPhones were sold in Apple’s third quarter. The report, published by a partner in customer research, states that almost all iPhone models were sold during the months of April to June. Part of the study was a survey of 500 Apple customers who purchased an Apple product between April and June. Purchased devices include iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch.

As restrictions on the Corona virus spread, Apple saw its iPhones sell more and more expensive models sold. At the time, customers were buying and selling newer phones, while Apple’s online and offline stores saw nearly double the sales of the iPhone. The shift to high-end models boosted the US retail weighted average to $ 869.

Josh Lowitz, partner and founder of Customer Interest Research Partners, said:

Apple did very well despite the advent of the Corona virus. Rising consumer spending in connection with the shift in consumer behavior towards expensive iPhone models is a relatively significant phenomenon, as these people abandon their old phones and buy more of these iPhones at their Apple retail outlets. As a result, we estimate that the analog average selling price – which Apple no longer officially announces – has increased in the last quarter.

Among the devices surveyed, the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 11 were the best-selling models, both accounting for 23% of the iPhones purchased by survey participants. All four iPhone 12 models make up 63% of iPhones. At the other end of the spectrum, the least popular models of the quarter were the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 10R. Each accounted for only 5% of buyers.

Partners in Customer Interest Research report that the average lifespan of the iPhones being traded has dropped slightly. In the third fiscal quarter, 37 percent of shoppers had a phone call for 2 years or less, while 30 percent had a phone call for 3 years or more. During the twelve months ending March 2021, this number is 35% and 34%, respectively.
